Noise Expert Group
.
UECNA is a member of the environmental Noise Expert Group within DG Environment of the European Commission.
In 2012, the Commission’s Directorate General for Environment (‘DG ENV’) set up a group of experts dealing with the environmental noise topic (‘the group’), in order to assist the Commission in relation to the implementation of existing Union legislation, programmes and policies, to assist the Commission in the preparation of legislative proposals and policy initiatives and to coordinate with Member States, by exchange of views.
The group’s tasks is being extended to allow for a broader discussions on the future of the environmental noise policy of the EU, including a special focus on effects on human health and issues arising in the context of the evaluation of the Environmental Noise Directive. To debate these issues, the participation to the current expert group is extended beyond Member States authorities and other public entities, to include stakeholders from industry, infrastructure managers, representatives of civil society and representatives of groups of citizens whose health is affected by noise.
The position of UECNA in respect of the Environmental Noise Directive is set in the presentation made on 24 April 2017 at the Noise Conference. The presentation can be downloaded here : UECNA – Noise Conference
