September 13th was designated the International Day of Action against Night Flights. It saw the biggest revolt yet against night flights with well over 100 organisations from across the world calling for a ban on night flights. Many of them staged colourful protest actions.
In Europe there have been consistent calls for action to be taken on night flights. Some airports such as Düsseldorf and Munich have bans in place. Some, like Frankfurt and Heathrow, have partial bans. But many airports have a huge number. The call is for the European Union to act. At present many airports do not want to take action on night flights because they fear the aircraft will go to rival airports. That can only be solved by action at an EU level.
